The house

The top floor holds the principal bedroom, which runs to over 100 square metres with its terraces, and two further bedrooms beside it. The main floor is one open volume under double height ceilings: the kitchen, the living room and the dining table, a bathroom and a guest suite, with glass the whole way along to the pool and the sea. The lower floor has three more large bedrooms, a laundry, and an eighth bedroom beside it that has its own entrance from outside, which makes it useful for staff or for a guest who wants to come and go separately.

The pool and the garden

Akumal is the bay between Playa del Carmen and Tulum, known for the turtles that feed in the seagrass inside the reef and for being quieter than either town. It is about forty minutes from Playa del Carmen, an hour and a quarter from Cancún airport, and twenty five minutes from Tulum.
