As part of an ongoing effort to uphold public access to the coastline, the Tulum municipal government announced that 15 hotels and beach clubs in the hotel zone have voluntarily opened their doors to locals and visitors — without cover charges or minimum consumption requirements.

Mayor Diego Castañón Trejo made the announcement during a recent press briefing, emphasizing that the measure is a significant step forward in safeguarding the constitutional right to enjoy Mexico’s beaches freely. “We’re very pleased to confirm that 15 new access points are now open thanks to the cooperation of local businesses that understand the importance of shared public space,” he said.

Public-Private Collaboration Strengthens Beach Access

The participating establishments include a mix of iconic hotels and well-known beach clubs such as Ana y José, Casa Gitano, Casa Violeta, Ahau, Delek, Alaya, Coco Unlimited, Hotel Nest, Hotel Maxanab, Hotel Sana, Dos Ceibas, Villa Alquimia, Papaya Playa Project, and beach clubs Blue Venado, La Eufemia, and Fara Fara.

Mayor Castañón noted that the municipality remains committed to exploring all avenues to preserve and expand public beach access. This includes legislative efforts, negotiations related to the Jaguar National Park, and direct collaboration with state and federal authorities as well as private sector stakeholders. “We are committed to finding solutions — and this is a clear example of how progress can be made through collaboration,” he stated.

Strengthening Tulum’s International Profile

The announcement coincided with updates on Tulum’s recent success at the IFTM Top Resa 2025 tourism fair in Paris, where the destination reinforced its presence in the European market. Tulum also received recognition at the World Travel Awards as the “Best Romantic Destination in Mexico and Latin America,” further elevating its global appeal.

With these latest developments, the municipal government continues to focus on delivering tangible results that benefit residents and visitors alike, while reinforcing Tulum’s image as a responsible and welcoming destination.
