Playa del Carmen is the working heart of the Riviera Maya, an hour south of Cancún airport and a ferry ride from Cozumel, built around Quinta Avenida and a long white beach. It carries the deepest short term rental market on this coast and the widest year round population, which is why apartments here let steadily rather than seasonally.
