The penthouses

Six are available and they range widely: from 178.94 square metres at unit 310 to 328.50 at unit 313, which is nearly double. Every one takes a private terrace above the apartment with a jacuzzi on it, and several are lock offs on top of that.

The terrace is the point. On these units the outdoor space is roughly the same size as the interior, and at this height the lagoon is in front of you rather than glimpsed.

Blue Water

Blue Water is thirty three apartments four hundred metres from the Bacalar lagoon, built by Latin Caribe Developments. Studios through to three bedrooms, with penthouses that take a private terrace and a jacuzzi looking over the water. It is 2.4 kilometres from the centre of Bacalar and two minutes from the lagoon clubs, and all seven of its commercial units have already sold to operators, so the ground floor will be working rather than empty.

Buying it

Payment runs in two instalments: a security guarantee on signing the contract and the balance on signing the final deed and taking the unit, either 40 then 60 per cent or 60 then 40. The developer prices in pesos and the peso figure is the one the contract runs on. The figure below is the list price rather than the discounted one, so it is the most you would pay.
