The house

Two levels of white volumes stepping down to the water, drawn so that almost every room ends in glass on the canal. The social floor is one open run of living room, dining room and kitchen, the kitchen in pale timber and stone with an island and a bar, opening across the whole elevation to the pool terrace. The four bedroom suites are upstairs, each with its own bathroom, its own glazed wall and its own view down the canal; the principal suite carries a dressing room and a bathroom with a freestanding bath and twin basins. Floors are large format stone throughout and the furniture, which is included, was chosen for the house.

The water

The infinity pool runs the full width of the plot with a jacuzzi beside it and the marina beyond, so the swimming edge and the water line read as one surface. Above, a rooftop terrace carries a second pool and a shaded lounge with the marina on three sides. The two docks give more than a hundred feet of combined berthing, on protected navigation canals with fast access to the open sea. Because the frontage is marina rather than beach, there is no public traffic in front of the house and none of the sargassum that lands on the open coast. Caleta beach is five minutes on foot, or a few minutes by boat or paddleboard.
